Intermittent Fasting – Fast Ways to Lose Weight!

Learn About Intermittent Fasting

One of the fastest ways to lose weight at the moment is with intermittent fasting. Never heard of it? It was introduced by Brad Pilon in his eBook “Eat Stop Eat”. It combines the fast results of fasting with the safety of a regular diet. It basically involves fasting from one to three days in a week where you only consume water or tea. The days you are not assigned to fast you can eat whatever you want, there are no restrictions. As strange as the diet may sound, the fact is people are losing weight and best of all are keeping it off. The key to long term weight loss always has been finding a diet that isn’t too restrictive so that you can continue to follow it.

The benefits of intermittent fasting:

No Need to Count Carbs, Fats or Calories
Unlike mainstream diets, intermittent fasting doesn’t make you count and measure every morsel before you put it in your mouth. It is a realistic diet for people living in the real world.

No Need for Special Supplements
Intermittent fasting won’t make you stretch out your budget further by purchasing expensive supplements.

No Cleansing Products or Laxatives
Laxatives or any other “cleansing” product is not needed for intermittent fasting which are dangerous to your health.

If you have tried many fad diets only to still be overweight, definitely give intermittent fasting a try, it is easy to follow and you will see fast results.

Is this anorexia or a completely harmless way of losing weight?
Okay, so 2 weeks back I got a lil stressed with a friend (ongoing problem) and lost my appetite, as in I’d eat once every few days. I done some research on this and found out it was scientifically proven to be beneficial to your overall health – called Intermittent Fasting.

2 weeks on and I’ve dropped from 128 lb.’s to 115 lb.’s – I’m feeling happier than ever and finally getting back into shape, and hoping to maintain this until I get back down to 105 lb.’s. I’m 5’3 btw! However, I’m getting A LOT of problems from family and friends, saying I’m basically verging on anorexia. I’m not purposely starving myself, as I’m not feeling hunger and cravings as you would expect from eating once every 3rd day. It’s been – in all honesty – very easy for me and therapeutic because it’s giving me something to think about other than ‘male’ friend problems and stress, and losing weight right now is the only thing that’s keeping me happy and sane. It’s not obsessive, I’m not exercising (only walking like 1 to 2 hours each day) and I’m not putting any effort into not eating. I’m not feeling light headed or faint, only maybe the occasional stomach grumble, but that’s all.

And yes I know, when I start eating normally again( 3 meals a day etc.) I will gain it all back and MORE. But I’m hoping to maintain this especially for that reason, maybe eat slightly more so I don’t gain/lose weight once I reach 105. And of course, for the health benefits of Intermittent Fasting.

So do you agree with my family/friends, or with my view that it’s harmless?

p.s. I am taking multivitamins and iron tablets that are 100% RDA :)

You sound like a teen, and a growing person needs to eat at least three meals a DAY.

You are hurting your body!

It’s not "fasting"…it’s getting onto the road of an eating disorder and you need to stop.

You’re also ruining your metabolism by depriving your body of fuel. The weight you are losing won’t be fat either….it’s most likely muscle since that’s the first thing your body starts to feed off of when you starve.

This thinking is how people get eating disorders. Fasting is not good for you. You need to eat every day to keep your metabolism up.

Intermittent fasting is not meant for those who are still growing. It is also not supposed to be permanent. It is meant to be done once a year, at most, and for those who have already reached maturity.

The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy & exercise. This is what my nutritionist said: multiply your goal weight times 12, and that is the amount of calories you should consume a day. Therefore, if you want to be 105, you should eat 1260 calories a day.

The healthy weight for women 5’3 is between 111 and 147 pounds. Anorexia can cause many health problems

for one thing it can cause constipation, since the body will not be use to digesting and eliminating waste.

Your heart is also negatively affected, since if your body is not getting enough energy form food (you are obviously not) the body will use muscles to get energy over time. This causes a slower heart rate and lower blood pressure, which can cause heart shock and heart failure.

Not eating enough food, can also amenorrhea, which is a term that describes when the body does not get enough energy and the menstruation cycle stops, meaning you will have a big risk of a miscarriage or you will be unable to become pregnant.

There are many more problems that can happen

You are taking vitamins and iron, so you are excluded from some possible diseases, but the majority of energy comes from calories, meaning there is no possible way for you to maintain enough energy to keep your body healthy unless you eat enough calories, which you are obviously not.

You cannot absorb some vitamins without fat.

You should eat three meals a day and make sure you are getting your daily allowances.

There are more then just vitamins that you need to be healthy, I would recommend forcing yourself to eat at least twice a day. Some refined protein, some salad, fish.

Why don’t you look into adopting a vegetarian lifestyle or dare i say vegan ::Shudders::

I know you are feeling well now, but think about all the things that can hit you all the sudden. Right now you feel fine but next week you feel a pain in your side an you go-to the hospital with an inflamed liver or something else.

Now that your stomach has shrunk and is as small as its going to get you have an advantage of not being hungry, but just because you are not hungry does not mean you do not need to eat.

Also food can be a shock to the system if you do not eat. protein and vitamins can send your digestive system into shock. It makes it more likely that calcium can give you gull stones.

Your body will absorb to much of the negative when you do eat.

Also if you are not hungry you probably aren’t thirsty, and you need water NO QUESTIONS ASKED right? Headaches, Gull stones. Liver failure, kidney failure.
